Flyers Announce Affiliation with New Mexico Mustangs Published on 6/2/2010 10:54:00 AM
With a successful prospect camp concluded and the 2010-2011 season just around the corner, the Valencia Flyers continue to gain momentum heading toward what promises to be another successful campaign. To add to an already impressive off-season, the Flyers are proud to announce an affiliation with the Tier II North American Hockey League’s New Mexico Mustangs.
The Mustangs, coached by former Flyers’ head-man Bill Muckalt, will begin their inaugural season with plenty of faces familiar to Valencia. Former Flyers’ players Casy Dennis and Daniel Chang will be both be under the tutelage of the former University of Michigan and NHL standout when the puck drops at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho in the fall. The Flyers will be represented well at New Mexico’s open tryouts come June 25th, as General Manager Scott Allegrini and new Head Coach Trevor Sack will accompany a bevy of Flyers’ standouts to the June camp.
The affiliation will benefit both teams as players will be able to move from one club to another to enhance their chances of success, while playing for two top-notch organizations. General Manager Scott Allegrini put it best, “The affiliation with the Mustangs and Coach Muckalt makes sense and is an element that adds to what we offer with the Flyers. To be affiliated with the NAHL is a great addition to our program and to be able to do it with Coach Muckalt is and added bonus. Everyone knows what Bill can do and he will only continue to prove that with his newest venture. Players will be given every chance to succeed with either of these two teams and it will prove to be nothing but good for both parties.”
