The Valencia Flyers are pleased to announce that Chris Hartly has accepted an offer to coach the Junior A Team for the 2008/2009 season. Hartly, who previously coached the Eugene Generals for three years and amassed a record of 59-33, is excited to get started and arrived in Valencia just in time to evaluate the players attending the Flyers Prospect Camp.
Ryan Marvin, who recently stepped down as Flyers Head Coach for an opportunity to return to school to obtain his Masters Degree while coaching at Bemidji State, has left coach Hartly with a solid stable of returning players and a team on the right track heading into the 2008/2009 campaign.
Hartly played his junior hockey in the BCHL before attending Wentworth Institute of Technology where he made the “Team All-American Rookie Team in 2001 and played as a defenseman for four years.
“We wish coach Marvin well as he pursues his dreams at Bemidji State. It’s a great opportunity for him.” Said General Manager Larry Bruyere. “We are very happy for Ryan as he has certainly left his mark on our program during his short tenure here.” “We are also looking forward to assembling our squad under coach Hartly as we get ready to invite players to our main camp in August".
